Launch of Major Government R&D Initiative to Develop a Korea-Tailored Real-Time Cybercrime Response System

Hallym University announced on the 24th that it has been selected as the lead institution for the Korean National Police Agency's "Integrated Analysis and Inference System for Cybercrime Investigation Leads" project — securing what is the largest government-funded R&D contract in the history of public safety research, valued at 24 billion KRW. UniSoul Friends Co., Ltd. will participate in the project, contributing its expertise in the field of data forensics.

The project aims to develop core technologies for a Korea-tailored, real-time cybercrime response system — one that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to rapidly collect and analyze investigative leads across cybercrimes such as online fraud, phishing, and digital sexual exploitation, and to generate suspect inferences.

UniSoul Friends Co., Ltd. to Strengthen National Cyber Investigation Capabilities Through Data Forensics Expertise

UniSoul Friends Co., Ltd. will apply its specialized knowledge in data forensics to contribute to the development of the integrated analysis and inference system for cybercrime investigation leads. Drawing on the expertise of its in-house research staff and its network of specialists across public institutions and universities, the company is expected to play a meaningful role in bolstering the nation's cyber investigation capabilities.

Yoon Jin-hang, CEO of UniSoul Friends Co., Ltd., said, "We feel a deep sense of responsibility in joining such a significant national project — one that contributes directly to strengthening public safety and social security." He added, "We will bring our full expertise and research capabilities in data forensics to bear on the development of this cybercrime response system."

Grand Research Consortium Formed to Maximize Synergies Across Industry, Academia, and Research Institutes

The project has assembled a grand research consortium that pools the collective intelligence of South Korea's leading institutions. Participating research bodies include the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) and the Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI); academic institutions include Yonsei University, Korea University, Sungkyunkwan University (Department of Forensic Science), and the Korean National Police University; and technology firms include CSR, Cyram, WhiteScan, SkyWorldWide, Stone Integrity, The Cheat, Hive System (Naver Cloud), UniSoul Friends, and Chainalysis.

Hallym University will serve as the overall coordinating institution for the project, leveraging the specialized capabilities of its Department of Convergence Forensic Science — established in 2024 — and its AI Convergence Research Institute, which has been at the forefront of AI-based interdisciplinary research. The university plans to deploy cutting-edge technologies including web crawling, network analysis, and AI learning models to bring about a quantum leap in the nation's cyber investigation capabilities.

Reinforcing a Vision as a Leading Company in Data Forensics

UniSoul Friends Co., Ltd. operates across three core areas within the data forensics sector: R&D in scientific policing, data science infrastructure development, and government-industry-academia collaboration. The company has previously demonstrated its capabilities through participation in AI-based investigative support R&D projects, and aims to further cement its standing as a leader in the data forensics field through its involvement in this national initiative.

CEO Yoon Jin-hang emphasized, "UniSoul Friends Co., Ltd. will continue to advance its technological capabilities in data forensics, and will establish itself as a leading R&D company delivering cutting-edge, data-driven solutions across the fields of public safety and criminal justice."
