Microbiome
Microbiome Research
The human microbiome, centered on the gut microbiota, exerts widespread influence on the immune, metabolic, and nervous systems, and has recently gained attention in clinical medicine as a key biomarker for disease diagnosis, prognosis prediction, and treatment response assessment. Dongsimwoo Bio conducts microbiome research linked to clinical cohorts, based on 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing and shotgun metagenomic analysis.
Gut Microbiome and Disease Association Analysis
Characterizing disease-specific gut microbial community profiles
We analyze changes in gut microbial community composition (Dysbiosis) across various clinical conditions including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), metabolic syndrome, and autoimmune diseases. We identify disease-specific microbial biomarkers using statistical techniques such as Alpha/Beta Diversity analysis, LEfSe, and ANCOM-BC.
Gut-Brain Axis Research
Analyzing the correlation between gut microbiota and neuropsychiatric disorders
We investigate the role of gut microbiota in neuropsychiatric disorders including depression, anxiety disorders, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and Parkinson's disease. By analyzing the interactions between microbial metabolites (short-chain fatty acids, tryptophan metabolites, etc.) and neurotransmitter pathways, we establish the evidence base for probiotics-based therapeutic development.
Drug-Microbiome Interaction Research
Analyzing the impact of the microbiome on drug responsiveness
We analyze gut microbial factors affecting treatment response to major drugs such as immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) and metformin. Through prediction of microbial enzyme activity involved in drug metabolism and analysis of the association between drug side effects and gut microbiota changes, we develop microbiome-based precision drug treatment strategies.
Traditional Korean Medicine and Microbiome
Investigating the gut microbiota-modulating effects of Korean medicine interventions
We scientifically analyze the effects of Korean medicine interventions, such as acupuncture, moxibustion, and herbal medicine, on gut microbial communities. We elucidate the changes that key components of herbal formulas exert on gut microbiota composition and metabolic activity, contributing to the advancement of Evidence-Based Korean Medicine (Evidence-Based KM) through convergence research of Korean medicine and microbiome science.
Multi-omics
Multi-Omics Integrated Analysis
Multi-omics integrated analysis is an approach that elucidates the complex mechanisms of disease by integrating multi-layered biological information including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. Dongsimwoo Bio conducts clinical cohort-based multi-omics research utilizing state-of-the-art bioinformatics pipelines.
Metabolomics Analysis
Metabolic pathway-based disease biomarker discovery
We quantitatively measure disease-related metabolite changes through LC-MS/MS and GC-MS-based untargeted and targeted metabolomics analysis. We conduct metabolic pathway analysis using tools such as MetaboAnalyst and HMDB, in parallel with integrated analysis of microbiome metabolite data.
Multi-Omics Data Integration and Machine Learning
Integrated modeling of multi-layered biological data
We build multivariate statistical models by integrating transcriptomics, microbiome, metabolomics, and clinical data. Using MOFA+ (Multi-Omics Factor Analysis), mixOmics, and deep learning-based multi-omics prediction models, we develop disease subtype classification, treatment response prediction, and prognostic biomarker panels.
